Folate is an important nutrient for pregnant women, yet 17% of women of childbearing age do not consume enough Folate in their diet.[1] Folic Acid is the form of Folate used in dietary supplements, and it is recommended that pregnant women consume at least 600 DFE Folate (360 mcg Folic Acid) per day to support the growth of their developing baby. Additionally, Choline is an essential nutrient for baby’s development, but 95% of pregnant women do not meet the recommended intake level of Choline.[3] †
Normally, the nutrients in this multivitamin are found in a diet that provides a variety of foods, including an abundant intake of vegetables and fruit, whole grains, lean protein and low-fat dairy. Choline foods include eggs, chicken and beef liver. Choline can be found in smaller amounts in fish, soybeans, wheat germ, and cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower and broccoli.
